| JSpamFilter provides several levels of logging to help analyze mail traffic, network behaviour and for trouble-shooting.
The amount of information captured is controlled by the log level. |

| The three log levels are: |
|
- Actions: logs actions taken by JSpamFilter.
- Verbose: logs all messages.
- Debug: logs all SMTP commands.*
|
| *The debug setting, not-surprisingly, is the most informative and used for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Note that log files grow more rapidly with this setting. |
|
| Additionally, the Administrator can set: |
|
- Log Directory*: the Administrator can specify another directory, if desired.
- LogFile: if the Administrator wants to have one contiguous log file.
- Log Filter Hits: logs which entries of the filter file are used.

| *If a non-existent directory is specified as the Log Directory, JSpamFilter will throw an error. |
